I did not finish them, which given how hungry I was speaks more about the qualify than anything I can write. I will try Hy-Vee again, but they won't get too many more chances.

Hy-Vee Chicken Tenders Review
It is fairly rare and equally sad that I think to myself "Ugh, I really should have ordered something besides the chicken tenders". Tonight was one such night. Historically, I have experienced quite a bit of variability in the qualify of the chicken tenders form Hy-Vee's deli. Today's offering was substantially sub-par. I believe they had been made several hours ago and simply and kept warm. They were rubbery on the outside and dry on the inside. The mix of spices was not bad, but that is about all I can say positive. I would likely have been better off getting a slice of pizza or some other offering from the deli.

Johnny's Tavern Chicken Tenders
This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to try the chicken tenders from a restaurant called Johnny's Tavern. On their menu, they are described as "A Staff Favorite!" The meal was carry-out so my analysis of them may not exactly apply to the dine-in experience. However, having dined-in at this place before, I find the experience to be comparable. There is something to be said for eating chicken tenders that aren't hot out of the fryer - ideally they should still be good at room temperature. Overall, these tenders were above average. They were crispy, not soggy like carry-out tenders often are. The chicken itself was adequately juicy and the portions were generous. While I would not place these on my "must-have" list, I would certainly not pass them up if offered.

Church's Chicken
I had Church's Chicken tonight for the first time in quite a while. I had the standard chicken tenders and crinkle-cut fries. It is hard for me to avoid comparisons between Church's and Popeye's, but Church's might have a leg up, at least in regards to their tenders. They were somewhat small, but tremendously juicy with an appropriate coating. My biggest complaint would probably be with the flavor of the coating - they were a bit mild for my taste. This makes the first bite of each enter somewhat bland. However, once the juice from the chicken kicks in, the rest of the tender is a delight. While the crinkle-cut fries are no match for Popeye's Cajun fries, they complemented the chicken nicely. I look forward to trying them again.

Review - Sunset Grill Chicken Tenders
I had the privilege of trying these out on Friday. On the downside, they are quite expensive - $10.75. On the upside, everything else. There is definitely a sophisticated feel to these with a delicious blend of spices and very juicy chicken. If you have a few bucks to spare, I would recommend them.

Lab-grown Chicken Tenders?
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/nation-now/2017/03/16/lab-grown-chicken-strips-made-animal-cells-debuted-startup/99259988/
In five years, we could have chicken tenders that are completely grown in a lab - no actual chickens needed! It is still being researched and is too expensive to be viable, and the texture is reportedly "spongy", but science marches on. What an exciting time to be alive!

Review - Sarpino's Chicken Tenders
Sarpino's chicken tenders managed to perfectly capture the taste and feel of microwaved frozen chicken strips. The coating has a small degree of flavor, but the actual chicken somehow manages to make no impression - forgotten as soon as it is swallowed. They breading is also exceptionally dry and the tenders don't provide enough moisture to make up for it. My mouth is a desert - a desert where chickens have gone to die. I need another Mountain Dew.
